Why this is important

We the undersigned organization, are seeking your intervention to stop violations against Palestinian detainees inside Israeli Prisons. Since the illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories, about 800.000 Palestinians have been detained, representing about 22% of the Palestinian population in the Occupied Territories. Currently, over 6500 Palestinians are detained inside Israeli prisons and custody. Currently, more than 7200 Palestinian detainees held inside Israeli prisons, among them 57 women, more than 350 children and nearly 1300 patients who need regularly medical check and treatment. Through decades of occupation, Israel has systematically kidnapped children, elderly, women and youth, subjected them to illegal military procedures and interrogation that rarely follow the international standards of a just trial, violating numerous human rights conventions and international law” according to recent official reports”. According to recent officials reports about the rise of violations and the variety of using such practices against those detainees, and according to testimonies from former detainees who have been subjected to several kinds of physical and psychological torture, the Israeli Prison administration use different kind of abuse against the detainees, this include; harsh interrogation procedures, medical neglect, solitary confinement for long periods and family visit refusal. Furthermore, Israeli Authorities have enacted new laws and regulations during 2016 in order to expose more penalties and sanctions against the Palestinian detainees. Since you are parliamentarians and human rights activists, academics and professors represent a country that adhere to human rights and support the oppressed nations , and as we are embarking the Palestinian Prisoners Day on 17th. April , we urge you to help us signing this petition and help those behinds Israeli bars to get their rights of detention and stop more of these daily breaches against them.
