The Palestinian Al-Ahrar Movement said Monday that 1,000–1,500 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails suffer from illnesses, including cancer, kidney failure and heart disease, amid medical neglect, starvation and disease outbreaks.
The movement’s prisoners affairs official, Muawiya Al-Soufi, said prison authorities confiscate medicines, delay treatment and cancel medical procedures, while shortages of water and cleaning supplies fuel skin diseases.
He urged international organizations, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene urgently and help end abuses against Palestinian prisoners.
